Yesterday at 1405h the second stage of the XXII Regata el Gaitero, a test of resistance for the Cantabric, began in Santander Bay, on a 90-mile tour. The Aizen, by Javier López Vázquez was the first to arrive at the port of Gijón by investing 21h, 41m and 10s, insufficient time to overcome the also Santanderino, Gorilon de Juan Bedía, who made an excellent journey and was the best of the fleet. With this triumph, the Gorilon is placed second in the provisional general, at a point of the leader, the Aizen.

By class, in group I, where the ships of the largest length are sailed, the best in the final stage in Gijón was the Akelarre, of Maurico Guibert, followed by the Clandestin, of Peru Múgica and of the Despeinado, of Carlos Maidagan, the three ships of the Royal Maritime Club of Santander. At the front of the classification is the Akelarre followed by the Asturian BullBox, by Sebastiano Napoli tied to points with the Despedo.

In the stage reigns the ships of group II were the fastest, the victory was obtained by the Gorilon that was imposed with authority in Gijon and the group is commanded to points with the Aizen, today second in its class, the third position in the stage was for the French of Arcachon, Falcon, of Philippe Roy. In this group, the Zazpiki, by José Luis Ribed was the fastest in the fleet and the first stage win is recorded, and is one of the favorites to the final win. For its part, the Asian ship of the Puerto Ria Club of Avilés, Bullbox of Sebastiano Napoli, occupied the second place of the general and the group, 13 minutes and 50 seconds from the Zazpiki. In Group II, the absolute winner of the last edition, the Santanderino Aizen, of Javier López Vázquez, won with authority in his class, taking more than 25 minutes to the also cantabre Gorilón, of Juan Bedía.
