The show of the exit remains a defining feature of the Rolex Middle Sea Race. With the backdrop of the fortifications of La Valeta, UNESCO World Heritage, it is each year one of the most iconic moments of the world ocean sailing.

The race for the 47th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race is already under way. The Royal Malta Yacht Club, an organizer of the event since 1968, announced the official opening of inscriptions for the 2026 edition of one of the world's most prestigious and beautiful ocean races, which will begin on Saturday, October 17, from the spectacular Grand Harbour of Malta.

Every October, the Rolex Middle Sea Race brings together in Malta a heterogeneous fleet that includes from professional campaigns to amateur crews, all attracted by the unique combination of tactical complexity, demanding conditions and a 606 nautical mile (1,125 km) tour with exit and arrival in Malta defined as the most beautiful of the world ocean competition. After the success of the 2025 edition, which brought together about 120 ships 31 nationalities, the RMYC opens the registration period with the confidence of rehosting a diverse and international fleet.

The race remains one of the most expected quotes of the international offshore calendar, proud member of the exclusive "club of the 600" that surrounds Sicily in an unscheduled sense with departure and arrival in Malta, including on its way the Eolias Islands (including the active volcano Estromboli), the Egadas Islands, Pantelleria and Lampedusa

The fleet usually ranges from approximately 9 meters to more than 30 meters, and includes both IRC and ORC monocasques, and MOCRA multicasques. Open classes such as the Class40 are encouraged, reflecting the wide attractiveness of the race within the international ocean sailing community. The Rolex Middle Sea Race is part of the RORC Season's Points Championship, the International Maxi Association (IMA) Mediterranean Maxi Offshore Championship and the Class40 Mediterranean Trophy 2026.
