Start at the Abra de Vizcaya National with 155 Optimist

The tests, with 155 participants, take place from 1 to 4 April with the organization of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club
155 optimist will participate regatists from the Basque Country, Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Madrid, Galicia, Cantabria, Valencia, Murcia and Melilla. The regatists of the Maritime of the Abra, which take part are Nicolás Bastard - it appears among the favorites -, Andrea Periotto, Lola Criado, Laura Angulo, Andrea Criado, Bruno Miguvarri, Adela Penide, Martín Guezuraga and Telmo Usman.
The purpose of this type of competition, in addition to the purely competitive aspect, is to promote an upward sport in which its participants promote values such as sportsmanship, equality - with more and more women sailing -, the instinct to overcome, the necessary discipline and sustainability, with respect for the environment as one of the signs of identity.

The Spanish Championship 2026 of the International Optimist Class is organized by the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club by delegation of the Real Federación Española de Vela, in collaboration with the Basque and Vizcaine de Vela Federations and the Spanish Association of the International Optimist Class (AECIO), Kirolur, Getxo City Council, as well as with the support of the Bizkaia Bridge, Coca Cola, Hospital San Juan de Dios and BCD Meeting and Events
The opening ceremony takes place on Tuesday, March 31, in the afternoon, to test from Wednesday, 1 to Saturday, 4 April, when the closing and giving ceremony of trophies will take place. This race will consist of a series of classification and a final series and twelve tests are scheduled, of which two will have to be completed for the Spanish Championship to be valid. The categories are Optimist sub-13 and sub-16, both female and male.
